Overview of Alberta’s Requirements
The first aid requirements for businesses in Alberta are outlined in the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Code (OHS, 2024). It is based on the number of employees actively employed at one time, types of industry/potential hazards, and proximity to the nearest medical facility. Violations against the OHS code may result in ticketing that ranges from $100-$500 per violation and a 15% victim surcharge is applies to each ticket. For more information on offenses, click here.
How CSA Kits Comply
- CSA Z1220 sets out different “Levels” or classes of kits that align closely with Alberta’s required contents.
- By choosing a CSA Z1220-compliant kit that meets or exceeds the required Alberta classification, you ensure full compliance.
Differences to Note:
- Ensure you select the appropriate CSA kit “level” that corresponds to your worksite’s risk category and workforce size.
