Manitoba Regulation First Aid Kits
Overview of Manitoba’s Requirements
- Manitoba uses Type A, B, C classifications, each with a list of required items (bandages, sterile gauze pads, triangular bandages, gloves, etc.).
- The type of kit needed depends on workforce size and industry risk level.
The first aid requirement for businesses in Manitoba is outlined in the Workplace Safety and Health Act, M.R. 217/2006. Employers must meet the Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health Act and Regulation set out in Schedule B. All workers are required to have a first aid kit under subsection 5.12 (1) Manitoba Regulation 217/2006. Manitoba’s regulations on first aid kits vary based on the number of employees and the location of the worksite.
How CSA Kits Comply
- CSA Z1220 kits can be mapped to Manitoba’s A/B/C categories, typically meeting or surpassing the province’s minimums.
- Since CSA kits are standardized, they make compliance easier—just ensure the contents match or exceed Type A/B/C item counts.
Differences to Note
- Manitoba does not mandate CSA by name, but a CSA kit often covers or exceeds the item counts for each Manitoba type.
Total Number of Workers Employed at Workplace | Number of First Aid Kits that must be provided at Workplace |
24 or less | 1 |
25 to 50 | 2 |
51 to 75 | 3 |
76 or more | 4 |
