Abdominal Pads, also known as ABD Dressings (Army Battle Dressings) are used for large wounds or ones that require high absorbency. Many doctors and caregivers that use abdominal wound dressings were originally developed for military use. The ABD dressings manage heavy draining/large wounds and prevent dirt and bacteria reaching the wound. The material is also made to allow for oxygen to reach the wound to promote healing. The dressing is constructed with a thick absorbent layer that disperses fluid to prevent pooling.
